The conversation
We start with the situation rather than the service. Often the discipline you ask for is not the one the problem actually sits in.

Guidance you can trust
Independent audit, taxation, financial and business advisory expertise, helping organisations across Tanzania navigate complexity and build sustainable growth.
TAG Systems Associates is a professional firm of Accountants, Auditors and Tax Consultants, registered with the National Board of Accountants and Auditors of the United Republic of Tanzania and with the Tanzania Revenue Authority.
We provide a wide range of consultancy-based services to the public sector, local government authorities, private enterprise and other institutions — across independent audit, management support, business and management advisory, information technology and taxation.
Our abilities are strengthened by strategic alliances with stakeholders who share our values across finance, legal, human resources and information technology. The firm holds to high quality of delivery and an uncompromisable code of conduct in building relationships with clients.
Mission
To support and guide clients to achieve success in their business by acting as their trusted business advisors.

To provide quality, cost-effective, personalised and innovative business solutions that meet the changing needs of our clients.

Our tailored services
Independent, risk-based audit conducted in accordance with International Standards on Auditing.
Tax planning, compliance and representation — managed ahead of the deadline, not after it.
Feasibility, valuation, transactions, recovery and capital — the analysis behind a decision.
Planning, risk, systems, policy and profitability — advice that reaches the operating model.
The full directory
Most problems worth bringing to a firm like ours cross more than one of these.
Audit & Assurance
Our methodology is built on a risk-based approach — focused on the entity’s actual areas of exposure, rather than following a rigid set of procedures.
The nature and size of the business, the style of management, the economic environment and the legal reporting requirements all call for judgement. That judgement shapes the audit. Every engagement is conducted in accordance with the International Standards on Auditing, and all work is planned, controlled, recorded and reviewed against our quality control standards.

Understand the business
Operations, underlying risks, and the legislation and regulation governing them.
Understand the controls
Organisational, procedural and information system controls, and the operating structure around them.
Resource it properly
Expertise and capacity available to carry the audit out efficiently and effectively.

Taxation
Tax advice and planning are of global business importance. Our work exists to ensure that your tax burden is no higher than it should be.
We advise on planning at national and international level, carry the compliance calendar — provisional returns, instalments, extensions and the final return — and deal directly with the Tanzania Revenue Authority through to final assessment.
Financial Advisory
Careful and innovative financial thinking is the cornerstone of any organisation’s business strategy. Ours runs from the first feasibility question through to the transaction, the recovery or the dispute.
Feasibility, viability and sustainability tested over the long run.
Scoped to the exercise — acquisition, restructuring or shareholder buyout.
Analytical and advisory support across the transaction.
Turning around a business with declining earnings or liquidity problems.
Private placement and the capital markets in East Africa.
Settling financial disputes outside the court process.
How we work
Every engagement follows the same four movements, whatever discipline it sits in.
We start with the situation rather than the service. Often the discipline you ask for is not the one the problem actually sits in.
We mobilise the blend of expertise the assignment needs, so you get the technical expertise the work requires and delivery to international standards.
Work is planned, controlled, recorded and reviewed. Reporting is clear and open throughout, not held back until the end.
Capability is deliberately left behind with you. Advice that is never implemented has cost money and returned nothing.
Industries
Sector context changes the risks, the reporting and often the entire shape of an engagement. We work across the industries that make up the Tanzanian economy.

Regulated institutions where the control environment, the reporting deadline and the supervisor's expectations all have to be satisfied at once.

Government, local government authorities, public institutions and donor-funded programmes — where accountability for public money is the whole of the assignment.

Stock, cost and margin. Businesses whose result is decided by what happens between the purchase order and the sale.

Asset-intensive operations with long horizons, where capital planning and utilisation drive the economics.

Contract accounting, project finance and claims — sectors where recognition and measurement carry real judgement.

Cash-intensive, seasonal operations where controls and working capital management decide the year.
Why TAG
We make no claims we cannot stand behind. What follows is simply how the firm works.
We work where our clients work. Tanzanian reporting requirements, the local regulatory environment and the realities of operating here are not something we research — they are the ground we stand on.
Registered with the National Board of Accountants and Auditors and with the Tanzania Revenue Authority. Audits conducted in accordance with the International Standards on Auditing.
Our audit methodology is built on a risk-based approach: effort is directed by judgement about where exposure actually sits, rather than by a uniform programme.
Advice is written to be implemented. We stay through delivery, because a recommendation that is never acted on has cost the client money and returned nothing.
Audit, tax, finance, technology and people sit in one firm. Problems that cross those boundaries — as most real ones do — do not have to cross firms.
Relationships are our top priority. Good relationships with our stakeholders are a prerequisite to our success, not a by-product of it.
Insights

A risk-based approach is not a lighter audit. It is a differently-directed one — and the difference shows up in what management is asked for.
